Psychonaut

Vooruit (concertzaal), Ghent
€27–29
On November 19, the Belgian, psychedelic post-metal collective Psychonaut will land in the Vooruit in Ghent. The traditional three-piece formation has long proven to possess compositional ingenuity, a compelling depth, and a crushing live presence. With this, they operate at the forefront of groundbreaking, contemporary heavy music. After previous shockwaves through the post-metal and prog scenes and passages at major festivals, they now return to the venue with their latest work. This concert is dedicated to their new album World Maker, a record born from immense joy and at the same time profound loss. The band burns away the philosophical complexity of the past with a searing, panoramic clarity that begs us to cherish the beauty of the now. Written between the arrival of new life and the devastating news of illness in their fathers, the band finds itself live torn between euphoria and grief. Terwijl Psychonauts gigantic riffs, punishing polyrhythms, and guttural vocal rage shine more than ever, they also explore their more delicate, intimate extremes on stage. To top it all off, they bring a fantastic special guest to Ghent: the elusive, energetic noise and math-rockers of The Guru Guru. In the face of life with its towering highs and desolate lows, this promises to be a direct, brave, and breathtaking concert. For fans of Mastodon, Russian Circles, Tool
