Once, long ago, the two swindlers pulled off a major score together with their companion Genio, but they have squandered all that money in the meantime. And since the financial crisis of 2008, not a single one of their scam tricks has really worked anymore... Their only hope lies with Genio, who hid the money from a scam somewhere in a safe before fleeing to Argentina. While waiting for Genio's return, the two have been drinking heavily in the bars of the countryside around Venice – and that is not necessarily the Venice that tourist influencers show you. One day, during one of their never-ending pub crawls, they meet Giulio, a young, somewhat naive, shy, and hopelessly in love architecture student who just saw his great flame slip through his fingers. An ideal opportunity for the two drunkards to make themselves useful by passing on their rich life experience and wisdom about love to the young generation! Giulio is dragged along on a chaotic, boozy trip full of pints, grappa, daiquiri, and coffee with "something" in it, and then one final definitive last one to wash down everything that came before. Bizarrely enough, the chance encounter with these two losers will not only truly upend Giulio's view of the world and love, but these two improbable mentors, with their unsolicited "advice," will even change his entire future. With ‘ANDIAMO A BERE L’ULTIMA’, Francesco Sossai has delivered a delightful Italian cross between a road movie, a drunk American buddy movie, and one of Aki Kaurismäki’s drinking films. A half-tragic, half-comic ode to friendship, a melancholic story about failed dreams and about the art of escaping them as cheerfully as possible. By the way: after the film, the bar is open for one final definitive last one. Cheers! ANDIAMO A BERE L’ULTIMA Directed by: Francesco Sossai IT 2026, 100 min.
