Pépée, a story without a punchline

Thu, 28 Jan 2027 · 20:00
La Vénerie / Espace Delvaux, Brussels
On stage, Josépha talks about her mother, Pépée – a lawyer at the Liège bar, nicknamed "the white wolf among the black wolves." A flamboyant and tortured woman, terribly brilliant but just as negligent, absent, and yet omnipresent. Pépée chained trials like glasses of wine… Marked by a complex relationship with alcohol, she deeply shaped her daughter's childhood. The show starts from reality, flirts with stand-up, plays with direct address to the public, then slides towards fiction and the imaginary. Far from miserabilism, it takes a look that is both comical and imbued with derision at this intimate story. Between bursts of laughter and astonishment, humor becomes a tool for survival, allowing one to overcome the tragic and open a universal space where other stories can resonate.
