Thanks to research at the research center CIMS of Ghent University and the cooperation between Cinematek and the Deutsches Filminstitut, this rebellious melodrama about forbidden love, prostitution, and homesickness in a port city can be admired again in its full glory. Although completely forgotten today, this crowd-puller remained on the poster in Bruges and other Flemish cities for months and even years. Almost a hundred years after its production, we celebrate the Belgian premiere of this restored version of Ich glaub’ nie mehr an eine Frau.
