Adorno

Dans Adorno, six performers compose a moving fresco where individualities and a desire for collective rub shoulders. Brazilian choreographer Alice Ripoll explores, through the motif of ornament, the ways in which each person shapes their identity in a world crossed by profound technological and social mutations. Adorno designates ornament, i.e., the accessories and costumes that one puts on, the details to which one pays attention to create an image for oneself, to affirm an identity that will be shared with the outside world, whether it be for the time of the carnival or in everyday life. Alice Ripoll probes the multiple layers that compose each individual, irreducible to any attempt at simplification. By questioning the images of oneself that one produces with great reinforcement of digital tools that allow us to redraw our contours at will, she questions the resistance of singularity, which continues to shine in the face of standardization. Adorned with accessories and prostheses, the dancers go through waves of metamorphoses. The choreography lets these beings in the making exist, hybrid, elusive in a glance. She questions in doing so our ability to compose with the other, in a living mosaic, like a collective history in constant recomposition.
