Het Amber Haddad Trio brings an idiosyncratic approach to Oriental and Mediterranean music. They blend these influences with jazz, pop, and flamenco, while leaving room for improvisation.
Their repertoire consists of compositions by Amber Haddad and reworkings of classical Arabic songs, inspired in part by Fayruz and other renowned Arabic singers and composers. This music is continually reshaped with their own arrangements and interpretations.
Amber Haddad is a Belgian-Libanese singer from Ghent who with her music builds bridges between cultures and styles. From her background in both Arabic music and jazz, she developed her own style in which emotion, freedom, and refinement go hand in hand.
The oud, played by Adil Benhsain, is given a central role, while the arrangements by Martijn Vanbuel present the music in a fresh and accessible jacket.
The trio consciously chooses the intimacy of smaller stages. That proximity is essential: their concerts are characterized by a direct connection with the audience and a shared attention to detail, silence, and ensemble playing.
