What do you get when two of the most versatile Belgian accordionists join forces? An adventurous journey through musical styles, full of virtuosity, imagination, and playing pleasure!
Gwen Cresens and Philippe Thuriot have shared a passion for the accordion in all its forms for years. Together, they explore a rich musical landscape that reaches from baroque and classical music to Argentine tango, Balkan music, jazz, and chanson. In doing so, they do not shy away from improvisation and let their instruments freely sing, whisper, and dance.
With accordions, bandoneon, and harmonica, they bring a program that draws from their recent solo work, but also from their shared love for musette, Bach, Scarlatti, and jazz in the spirit of Toots Thielemans. Their musical paths have crossed regularly in recent years: they collaborated on each other's albums, stood on stage together in international productions, and were guests on the Klara program Weg van Accordeon.
Gwen Cresens is known as a musical jack-of-all-trades who effortlessly connects different styles. Philippe Thuriot gained international fame with his impressive interpretations of Bach and Scarlatti, in which technical perfection and spontaneous creativity go hand in hand.
This is more than a concert by two accordion grandmasters. It is a meeting between two friends, two musical adventurers, craftsmanship of the highest order!
