storytelling concert: Sadiyo, the oak and the linden

Fleeing from war and injustice is of all times. Op Wapenstilstand therefore features a storytelling concert about people who are forced to leave their homes and about the question of how we receive them. Because there can never be a good reason to deny bed, bath, and bread to anyone fleeing violence and injustice. Together with Trui Aellemeersch on diatonic accordion and Ellen Vanneste on violin, Dries Chaerle weaves stories and music into a warm, subdued performance that touches without grand words. The music in this storytelling concert is written by composers and lyricists who were once refugees or exiles themselves. Ovid's ancient poem about Philemon and Baucis thus acquires a surprisingly topical meaning. In a world where millions of people are fleeing war and injustice, this performance invites listening, pausing, and connectedness. Featuring: Dries Chaerle: story & double bass Trui Aellemeersch: diatonic accordion Ellen Vanneste: violin During the annual fair, Music Club ’t Ey opens its doors wide!
