Ydhessä is a Franco-Belgian band that takes pagan folk as its starting point. With two bouzoukis, Celtic harp, flute, bagpipes, percussion, and drums, the group already has everything it takes for a solid and colorful sound.
The band was formed in 2023 around Gaëtan Gibson and grew into a close-knit group of musicians who found each other through folk, medieval festivals, and other musical wanderings. Their first record GENESIS was released in 2024. A year later, bagpipe and flute player Djaffar Lebdiri joined the group.
Ydhessä explores the tension between Celtic sounds, world music, and a heavy dash of rock: solid rhythms, captivating melodies, and spellbinding vocals. Folk with mud on the shoes and a craving to get things moving.
