BLIET brings folk songs from our region with women in the leading role. Women in many guises: the mother, the virgin, the widow, the saint, the light-skirts, the witch...
With a love for group singing and groove, BLIET weaves old Flemish melodies with contemporary influences. Their music builds a bridge between tradition and the present: simultaneously raw and refined, familiar and surprising. The repertoire moves effortlessly from energetic and vibrant ensemble playing to intimate, clear-sounding moments.
Refined folk full of enthusiasm, brought straight from the heart.
The group name is a tribute to Josefien's grandmother Bliet: an idiosyncratic, independent woman with a big heart.
In 2025, BLIET performed during the Flanders Folk Awards in the Ancienne Belgique, where they were nominated as the most promising band. In March 2026 they dived into the studio for their debut record and now they are very pleased to present it live.
