During the Renaissance, the table was a true instrument of power. We are going to dive into the heart of princely banquets where taste, spectacle, and politics are closely intertwined. Around the figure of the prince-bishops, we will explore how sugar, spices, the staging of dishes, and the organization of meals contribute to asserting the prestige, authority, and influence of power. Because eating is not limited to feeding oneself; it is also governing, seducing, and impressing through the table.
