With their enchanting mix of electronica, art pop, afropop, saudade, and alternative latin, Ão has grown into one of the most exciting acts in the Belgian music scene. In doing so, the foursome evades every genre label and they continue to push their musical boundaries, without losing their unique sound. Brenda Corijn, who draws from her Mozambican-Portuguese roots, sings in Portuguese and English. Her warm voice merges with the southern guitar playing of Siebe Chau, the subtle electronic elements of Jolan Decaestecker and Bert Peyffers's eclectic percussion work. On February 13, 2026, Ão’s new album 'Malandra' appears, successor to their acclaimed debut 'Ao Mar' (2023). A malandra is a woman who moves through life with humor, intelligence, playfulness, and cunning: not always honest, but always true to herself. With 'Malandra', Ão creates an ode to complexity, multiformity, and searching in all its guises. It sounds even more layered, rhythmic, playful, tender, and harder. After their sold-out release show in the Brussels AB, the band also announces a show in Cactus Club, because with multiple passages at Cactusfestival and Cactus Club/Café, Bruges also closes the warm saudade pop in its heart.
