Safran makes spicy soul pop marinated in desire. The band is known for its danceable grooves, spicy melodies, and a touch of French. In their music, they explore the intoxication and the rust of being.
Inspired by neo-soul and modern pop, Safran sketches worlds that feel both familiar and surprising. With influences from Sault, Jordan Rakei, Solange, Portishead, and Intergalactic Lovers, but always smothered in their own sauce.
After a self-titled EP in 2022, the band released their first album Mosquito Jazz in late 2024 about a summer of getting lost in the multitude. Xavier De Clercq (Ciska Ciska, Sad Boys Klub, Noémi Wolfs...) was at the controls. Currently, the band is working on new work that will be released in 2026.
Live, Safran translates her songs into a dynamic show full of playful fun, good for a sold-out show in Charlatan in October 2025, where they were compared to "a warm southwesterly wind [...] Sometimes a sea breeze, sometimes a swirling whirlwind." In 2023 they won the Club Telex Rock Rally of the Ghent KASK & Conservatory.
